"OTA AKIHIRO Exhibition 2nd" – Information & Merchandise

From Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the special exhibition “Toei Animation CREATORS FILE 02: OTA AKIHIRO Exhibition 2nd — The Animator’s Work of Realizing Images —” will be held at the Toei Animation Museum Special Exhibition Space.

  1. Exhibition Overview

    Akihiro Ota, who belongs to Toei Animation Co., Ltd. and served as animation director on works such as”The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe”, will, following the anime production process, explain the work of an animator. What does he think at the time, what does he look at, what does he draw, and what kinds of ingenuity does he use? Also, how did he develop and refine those skills?

    From the unique perspective of an active animator, I put into words the moments when a drawing is imbued with “life”

    The second edition features updated content, offering both returning visitors and first-time guests new insights and discoveries.

    Please check in at the museum entrance before entering.
    The entrance to the special exhibition area is located on the right side of the exhibition hall, near the photo area.

    To celebrate the opening of the OTA AKIHIRO Exhibition 2nd, new merchandise will be available for purchase.
    The following items will be sold at the museum shop from 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 21.

    • ・Museum shop hours: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • ・Please refrain from lining up early in the morning, as it may inconvenience nearby residents.
    • ・Please note that items may be sold out at the time of your visit.
    • ・Depending on circumstances, entry to the shop may be restricted.
    • ・Returns or exchanges are not accepted except for defective products.
    • ・No eating or drinking, including chewing gum, inside the museum. Beverages may be consumed outdoors only.
